Universidad en Pennsylvania Realiza Acción Social en Las Terrenas
Diez y ocho estudiantes de Lycoming College en Pennsylvania, USA, visitaron a Las Terrenas para una actividad de acción social y para disfrutar nuestros hermosos lugares. Los estudiantes ayudaron en la construcción del “Paseo de las Mariposas” en la escuela básica Antonio Castillo Lora, un proyecto donde se va a resaltar la presencia y aportes de 100 mujeres dominicanas y dedicado a la memoria de las Hermanas Mirabal. También pasaron tiempo con los niños en las aulas del pre-escolar.
Además del trabajo en la escuela el grupo disfrutó de excursiones a las cascadas de El Limón, a Cosón y a restaurantes y fiestas en Las Terrenas.
La visita fue recibida por la Fundación Mahatma Gandhi, socio con ACES North America quien trajo el grupo al país para trabajos sociales en otras partes del país. Su visita a Las Terrenas es la segunda para Lycoming College y fue dirigida por Brittany Tasch.
PA College visits Las Terrenas on Service Action
Eighteen students from Lycoming College in Pennsylvania, USA, visited Las Terrenas for a community service opportunity and to enjoy the sights and enjoy the natural offerings in our community. The students helped in the construction of the Boulevard of the Butterflies at elementary school Antonio Castillo Lora, to which they contribute funds and labor for its execution. They spent time with kids in the preschool classroom and helped prepare the garden area for the planting of flowers.
In addition to the hard work at the school they had a chance to enjoy the El Limon Waterfall, the beaches, Luis' restaurant in Coson and a bit of dancing and eating at local joints.
The visit was hosted by Fundacion Mahatma Gandhi-Las Terrenas and sponsored by ACES North America, which runs educational and community programs at various locations in the country and is a partner with Fundacion Mahatma Gandhi. The Lycoming College group was led by Brittany Tasch, a staff person at the college.
